Pray and Paddle with Howard Thurman

On Lake Cochichewick we share in Lectio Divina, an ancient practice of
listening to a piece of sacred wisdom, three times. Each reading includes a
question to ponder followed by an extended time of paddling in silence. On
this paddle we will be accompanied by the wisdom of Howard Thurman.
Howard Thurman was a 20th century African American prophet, mystic,
theologian. He was a prolific author, civil rights activist, mentor to Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. and Dean of Marsh Chapel at Boston University.
Thurman said: ‘Ask what makes you come alive and go and do it.’
