Voices and Stories: Author Night with Peggy Johnson
With Peggy Johnson
June 15, 2023
To build bridges of understanding, we must take time to listen to the experiences of others.
Rolling Ridge launched “Voices and Stories” as a topical series that uses historical education and contemplative listening to open hearts and minds to the events that have shaped American society today.
June is Pride Month and in celebration, we invite you to join us on Thursday, June 15th from 6:30-8:30 pm for an evening with Bishop Peggy Johnson as she talks about her new book, The Ever-Expanding Spirit of God: For All Who Feel Left Out.
From the introduction: “The debates around same-gender marriage, sexual orientation, gender identity, and what it means to keep in a covenantal relationship with fellow United Methodists of differing opinions is at the center of this book. I engaged in many other ministries during my tenure as bishop, but I am laser-focused here on this one topic. It is a personal story, full of honest reflections on my journey as a Christian, a minister of the Gospel, and a leader in the church.”
Bishop Peggy will be joined by her spouse, Rev. Mary Johnson, as she talks about their marriage, their life together with their two adult children, and the “precious secret” that was revealed to her in 2010. The stories will be painful, courageous, embarrassing, inspiring, sad, happy, and even humorous.
This will be a powerful evening that will be HYBRID — hosted IN-PERSON at Rolling Ridge, but also available ONLINE. You do not want to miss out!
For those onsite, copies of the book will be available for purchase and may autographed by Bishop Peggy.
Advanced copies of the book may be purchased here
Although there is no fee for this program, your generous donation to assist Rolling Ridge is greatly appreciated as we celebrate 75 years of transforming lives as a ministry of the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church. Thank you.
